The problem: An internal EPAM hackathon exploring how AI could be used to reduce unconscious bias and promote fairer decision-making across the business..

My role: To organise the route and idea we as a group wanted to explore. Using th research to create a user journey in which we could start to draw out the wireframes and start to set out the slides and the story we wanted to tell.

Brief: How can we harness the power of AI to cultivate a workforce experience at EPAM that is both inclusive and diverse? In this category, we seek innovative concepts that can drive positive transformation within our organisation.

Deciding a direction: We ran an ideation session around EPAM’s 3 key objectives, using dot voting to identify a clear focus: improving the resource sourcing process. From there, we explored how AI could help surface the best-fit talent across EPAM’s 50,000-strong workforce.

Research: We combined desktop research, interviews with EPAM’s resourcing team, and in-depth problem analysis to uncover key challenges and opportunities for using AI in talent sourcing.

Flows: I helped map the existing recruitment flow to identify where our product, AIware, could be introduced to add the most value.

User journeys: Using the research and interviews, I mapped out the user journey—highlighting key problem areas and aligning our ideas to them. This also helped define the screens we needed for the final presentation.

Straw man: Created a straw man presentation to align with the UI designer on the narrative and define the key designs needed.

Final presentation: Our team placed 3rd out of 20 and was invited to present across the business, sparking interest in both AI possibilities and the hackathon process.
